Hair Review by Anneka Khan

So I decided to do something about the major hair boredom I have been feeling lately, and booked myself an appointment at Hari's Salon on Kings Road. I had read a few glowing reviews of the place, and with a 30% discount for new customers at the moment (just quote 'spring flyer' when you book), I thought I would give it a go. I was feeling slightly nervous as I made my way there, because as you know, I am not a massive fan of having my hair cut - but I walked in and it was buzzing and full of energy, and the girl at the counter gave me a massive grin, which always helps! Each of the mirrors was decorated in a different way - one was covered in half-melted beer bottles, another in pages ripped from the Yellow Pages, another with a jewelled Union Jack, and far too many others to remember. But mine was the coolest - a diamond-encrusted skull and a massive silver stag beetle on quilted black leather, totally badass, which of course, I loved!

Then I met my stylist, Phu, and we chatted about what I wanted. As I didn't really have a firm idea, I have a feeling that my brief was pretty vague - 'umm, something shorter but not too short, plenty of texture and super-easy to look after, but totally fresh and not boring' was the general gist of it. He played around with my hair for a bit, then we decided on a style that would be pretty short at the back and sides, but longer on top for a bit of versatility.

After a shampoo and lovely head massage, Phu got to work. He really put me at ease, explaining what he was doing as he went along, and we chatted about all sorts of things as I sipped on a (non-alcoholic) strawberry mojito - I normally feel a bit tense and awkward when I have my hair cut, and am generally not a fan of salon chat, but this was not the case today at all. He took his time, and I never felt rushed, even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon and at one point I think he had another three clients waiting! And the style? I love it! And that is really something, I think I can count on one hand the number of times that I have walked out of a salon, and genuinely loved the style. (Indeed, when I chatted to my Love on the way home, he was really surprised that I was happy - 'usually you come out of the hairdressers really depressed!'). It's short enough for me to look after with my complete lack of styling skills, but looks fresh and stylish and generally pretty awesome, and seems like it will be easy to change up for nights out. I will definitely be going back to Hari's, I've been to so many salons in my time, but this one is definitely worth the return visit - I can't stop looking in the mirror!

Is there such a thing as the perfect blonde? We know how we'd like it to look. Effortless, the colour of a child's hair, full of different streaky tones, as though they had just grown like that. Recreating that perfect natural blonde is a huge challenge for any colourist, but Debbie Bhowmick has it down to a fine art.Read the full article on Editer.com here.

Bringing a sexy slice of Hollywood Glamour to London’s West End Paz looks delectable in a thigh skimming corseted bodysuit and a sultry black floor-length John Galliano gown.
To match a full to bursting personality, Craig adds volume to Paz’s hair, which encourages movement and fluidity. Craig for Hari's Salon, Kings Road credits L’Oreal Paris and Elnett for helping him to achieve this look.

Red Hot LipsAs seen at Diane von Furstenberg and Gucci;bold Blood Reds, it's all about lipliner with the points of the upper lips exaggerated for a sculpted look.Hawt red lips plus the coolest metallic eye makeupyou've ever seen.Diane von Furstenberg New York Fashion Week F/W11Gucci Milan Fashion Week A/W11The Braid BrigadePlaits are here to stay from thin to thick from messy to tailored so if you lived in braids all summer do not fear you can keep them for AW.
How To Disco Frizz

Disco FrizzHow to Disco Frizz As seen at Marc Jacobs and Topshop Unique, we simply love this summer trend at HARI's. With an easy pin wrap technique and flat irons we can show you how to create this look. The hair gets softer over days and can be refreshed with dry shampoo. It really does lasts and lasts!HARI's DISCO FRIZZTopshop UniqueTopshop UniqueHARI's How to....Take random sections of your hair and wrap it in a figure of eight around a large setting pin (setting pins are available in most pharmacies)Start wrapping about 3 or 4 inches down your section of hair, the idea is that you really want to create frizz on your mid-lengths and ends, leaving out the roots so they are straightUse a kirby grip to secure to prevent it slipping out while you are heating it, secure all your sections of hair and spray thoroughly with a flexible hairspray, making sure you spray both sidesUse flat irons to heat eached pinned section, hold the irons on each section of your hair for 10 seconds, then leave to coolWhen your hair is completely cool slide out the kirby grips and setting pins and unravel your hair. Now is when the fun begins...turning your head upside down and brush through thoroughly. the more you brush the better the effect!♥ We love to use a Mason Pearson Brush ♥Create a side parting in your hair using a tail comb and then wrap your hair around the end of the tail comb to give you a twist, using kirby grips criss crossed to secure your twist♥ HARI's Top Tip ♥ use matt finish grips as they hold most securelyUse the end of the tail comb to tease out the style and mist with a flexible hold hairsprayDisco Frizz DONE!

The Runway Bun

What:The Runway BunWhere:Chloe, Gucci, Rick Owens, DSquared²The Low Down:The bun is the chameleon of the catwalk season; play with finish, it can be slick and sexy a la Oscar de la Renta. Dry and wispy as seen at Beradi, or do like the Jaegar girls with their naive casual slipped out knot. Position: the higher on the head it goes the more glamorous the look. Shape: you have the freedom to make a neat one pin wonder, a gutsy voluminous Italian twist or a draped, airy looser do but remember to give it this season's sence of haphazardness for a wearableand relaxed 2011.Oscar de la RentaChloeDSquared²

Colour Trend for SS11

We l♥ve the new block colour trend for SS11 – as seen at virtually all the runway shows with unapologetic ice blondes, chocolates (did you see Natasha Poly’s gorgeous hair switch from dusty blonde to raven this season?) and hot red. Apparently it’s another trend we have the Lady herself (Ga Ga) to thank for. And with it two of the world’s hottest stylists Josh Wood and Eugene Soleiman have created what they’re calling a ‘colour free fall’ menu; and of course it’s coming to a HARI’s near you. So between now and SS11 it’s time to make your choice between Passionista – flaming new red, Glamazon – a new take on the dip-dye trend with a stronger, cooler colour, Lumina – a futuristic, and incredibly sexy ice block blonde and Polaris – a mix using a black, white and chocolate brown palette for rich, gorgeous hair.

HARI's Kings Road have become all of a tither tease over the Prada Autumn/winter hair Beautiful teased up beehives add elegance to winter wear and our fondness for this styling has grown through recent months as we noted how chic it looked with wool coat collars and scarfs Sarah and Jake have become acquainted with the tail comb in recent years as they styled the hair on fashion editorial so they were the first to embrace the beehive trend We begin with a light shampoo and only use conditioner to seal the tips then blow the hair with our favourite tec ni art volume mousse at the roots . Hair is then super teased and pinned and smoothed to give tons of height that adds drama and chicness to styling Jake put his own take on the style and so created the 'textured tease up'a younger wearable version with fly away edges! It's all gone BEEHIVEN at Kings road

Sharon Jones

HARI's is playing On Daptone Records, our favourite label out of the states right now, Brooklyn based. This song Sharon as a child asked her parents how could Father Christmas deliver her presents when she lives in a project (council block) that didn't have a chimney. The song explains the rest. Check out the Christmas horns. Sharon Jones is one to watch.

Fringe Envy

When a fringe looks good it looks incredible – no surprise that they’re back for another season then? There were the blunt and beautiful at Lanvin, soft to the side at Blumarine and the sexy slightly wispy and seventies inspired numbers at Pucci

But, it’s not for everyone, and you only know that after the chop. So we decided to take the ‘should I’, ‘shouldn’t I’ decision out of the big bang question. Well, if they were adding fringe au faux at the shows, why couldn’t we do the same for you?
So we decided to introduce faux fringe extensions for you too with the Fringe Masterclasses. Once we’ve matched your clip in fringe to your hair colour (trust me, no one will be able to tell as we have every shade) we’ll shape your fringe to your face, and give you the tips and tools to recreate your perfect chunky, choppy or wispy bangs at home.
It takes the pressure out of that seasonal style change, which we know you were already thinking about.
